Another fun year for the SIAB crew celebrating Independence Day at the Bel Air Parade. Thank you for all that attended and had fun with us!
The Society of Italian American Businessmen Team participated in today’s SARC’s 9th Annual Walk-a-Mile In Her Shoes coming in 2nd Place Top Team Fundraisers topping $10,000!! Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts to bring awareness to this great organization.
On the heels of a banner first year in existence, The Society of the Italian American Businessmen, SIAB, hosted their 2nd Annual Spring Gala on Friday, April 17th, to a sold out crowd of 360 people at the Richlin Ballroom. SIAB put on another first class event that began at 7:00pm and went until midnight. In true Italian style, a 2015 Fiat 500 was on display as you drove up to the ballroom.
Inside you were greeted to a cocktail reception with 5 of Harford County’s best Italian restaurants. Enotria, Giovanni’s, La Cucina, Liberatore’s, and Main Street Tower were all featuring their signature dishes, while being serenaded by beautiful Italian music. There was an eclectic mix of silent auction items amid wine and bourbon tastings, and there was an air of excitement that people have quickly come to expect as the organization kicked off yet another grand event.
The Spring Gala is one of SIAB’s two main charitable events throughout the year to raise money for area charities and scholarships. This year’s guest of honor was The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region. It was a proud moment for the entire membership as a charitable giving check in the amount of $15,000 was presented to Shawn Kros, Executive Director, and Julie Chmura, Development Director of The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region. Some wonderful photos were taken as the 37 SIAB members gathered around to present the check and document this amazing achievement.
Born in May of 2013, the Society of the Italian American Businessmen has given away more than $30,000 in charitable giving money to several area charities and $5,000 in scholarships to two students in just under two years. This is a testament to the young organization’s dedication and commitment to their mission. It is clear that SIAB is here to stay and is continuing to grow. Their effort will be felt as more charitable organizations and students are touched by their generosity.
The next event for SIAB is their 2nd Annual Linguine & Crab Feast to be held at the Richlin Ballroom on Saturday, September 19th, from 1:00pm – 6:00pm. Last year’s inaugural Feast sold out and this one will be no different. Featuring an amazing spread of casual food including the organization’s signature linguine & crab sauce, steamed crabs, pit beef and turkey, and much more! There will be another fantastic silent auction, scotch and wine tastings under the tent, and excitement will be paramount as SIAB raffles off a Fiat 500 at 5:00pm during the event. For more information on the organization, tickets to the event, or raffle tickets for a chance to win the Fiat 500, visit www.thesiab.com.
